Here are pictures of Improper Coat Portuguese Water Dogs. I call them smooth faced puppies because that is how most of my puppy owners tell the difference when they are babies. The Smooth faced puppies are also smooth on the fronts of their legs. They come in wavy and curly. They do shed. Most do not shed a lot. I do not feel they are a good choice for most families with allergies. I will say that Lauren is not allergic to them and she is highly allergic to shedding dogs. This is a PWD. The coat is a recessive trait. It is not a health issue. The coat can be easier to take care of than a regular coat.
